Cont... Whither B-School Rankings!

This is just a continuation of the previous post on the futility of relying on B-School Rankings...

Since then, one more publication has come out with rankings... and so here is a scorecard as of now.

would these really help an MBA aspirant help making an educated choice?

...or maybe, we seriously need a "B-School Ranking Regulatory Authority of India" :0)

Woah!!!

That’s really a good piece, exposing the truth presenters!!! Whoa!! That’s really a brilliant comparison, Madhukar!

But on the other hand, it’s not so strange in this world of hyped media (un)realities. I completely empathise with these B Magazines, there are very right in what they do. How can somebody understand a B school better than them! They understand the parameters better than any of the B school pass out, faculty or industry experts. Who else understands what a B-School stands for? I guess since these people claim they might know better as in what purpose a B school serves and they really have some concrete parameters to measure whether a B school successfully fulfils that mission!

Actually, I do understand their concern. I understand when you see the neighbourhood magazine boosting their sales because of the Amazing "Five factor MMR rating", you (being adept at adapting the idea owning and proclaiming the genuine innovation through this idea), would obviously tweak it and call it "Six factor Rating ".

Add to this the fact that every body is coming out with the rankings across the globe for anything and everything that a common mortal can ever come across, and obviously the ultimate goal to remain in business...when someone in Kenya can rank the quality of potatoes sold on Wednesday sale, why not lets compare B schools! I completely understand your position. You are not the one to be blamed. You never force anyone to believe you afterall, that’s a great charity in itself!

I also understand that you are just trying to confuse the poor soul and do not intend to harm anyone’s career through your findings!

So what if the magazine has hired someone who is just too good at seeing the larger picture that he can extrapolate survey of 100 ppl to 1 million population to do the data analysis,
So what if they hire some street-smart guys too good at overhearing what the Adwait in the street just told Vijay. All they did was grasped the first hand info from the street, interpret it so as to analyse and present it as what the nation feels. They are very true! Is Adwait not a part of the country! After all they are giving voice to the common man!

So what if the reporter has no time to go to the institute and googles the information that was published in a blog by another friend of his!

What a noble cause you see!

That reminds me of another incident where the "wise" media people posted some article in their news paper and claimed it to be based on "the news reporter that visited the campus"...the truth being he/she visited during vacations (when the campus was deserted) to catch the first hand glimpse of how do students feel at campus!

I fully empathise with the Business worlds and Business universes and Business past present and futures, and thank them for the noble deed and wish them luck for their noble deeds….

I don't understand the concept ranking based on particpation. All magazine or newpaper are meant to present real picture .Even IIT 's management school are not in list .
